Faculty Meetings

You will be invited to a quarterly online faculty meeting via Zoom that we hope you make your best effort to attend. Our faculty meetings are a critical way of building community and improving our teaching practice online. Each faculty meeting consists of introducing new faculty who have joined us, key deadlines or university initiatives, and a professional development session led by a peer based on the results of classroom observations, IDEA results, and trends in online teaching. Please attend a faculty meeting to share your experiences and join the NLU faculty team—we will make it worth your while and will give you plenty of notice (faculty meetings happen in the evenings).

Additionally, if you teach in the undergraduate education majors, a weekly Student Success Collaborative meeting is highly recommended to attend. These meetings are held via Zoom to bring together all faculty teaching education majors, whether on ground or online. The purpose for these meetings is the following:

  • Brings together the common instructors, department chairs, and the student success coaches/advisors in order to discuss students’ academic progress and issues that may be contributing to or hindering progress.
  • Facilitates collaboration between faculty and coaches/advisors who work directly with each student to ensure that when a student in need of support or a common student support need is identified.
  • Embeds a professional development component where new ideas and instructional strategies are shared and discussed amongst colleagues.
