NLU’s Florida Programs Awarded 7 Years of Accreditation
Two Areas in the College of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Received the Accreditation Status
The Board of Directors for the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (otherwise known as CACREP) convened last month to determine which institutions would receive or renew accreditation. Founded in 1981, CACREP was created to uphold standards for counselor training.
During their meeting, the Board reviewed a report submitted by the Counseling Department in the College of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences at National Louis University, Tampa. The submitted report specifically aimed to address the accreditation for the M.S. specialty area of Clinical Mental Health Counseling and the Ed.D. Counselor Education and Supervision.
National Louis University is pleased to report that the Board accepted the report, and that the accreditation for both areas will continue through March 31, 2030.
Dean Kelli Johnson will receive a certificate of accreditation. M. Sylvia Fernandez, President and CEO of CACREP, said, “Such support is considered vital to assuring continued quality in higher education programs. The Board extends its thanks to [the administration] for the support given to the faculty in maintaining the accredited status of the counseling program.”
