  • PI for Noyce/NSF grant
  • Integration of FIPSE project experience into science teaching methods course The impetus: the lack of pre-service teachers' pedagogical knowledge and their understanding of scientific inquiry as well as university need for coherent and cohesive curriculum to make a close connection between classroom and university. As one of the course requirements, pre-service elementary teachers need to complete SIOT and Video analysis tool in order to understand student's science learning and teaching better.
  • Developing Science Inquiry Observation Tool (SIOT) During FIPSE (Funds for Improvement for PostSecondary Education ) project funded by U.S. Department of Education, Ko developed a student science inquiry observation tool in collaboration with faculty from other program/department.
  • Developing Video Analysis Tool for Science Teaching During FIPSE (Funds for Improvement for PostSecondary Education ) project, Ko developed a Frozen Moment Video Analysis-Science (FMVA-S) in collaboration with faculty from other program/department. Reflective teaching analysis was essential with this Frozen moment video analysis in science.
  • Contribution to Science teacher education Ko designed a professional teaching and learning sequence in Adaptive Cycle of Teaching (ACT) with collaboration with faculty to enhance K-12 science teachers' knowledge and pedagogical knowledge related to the nature of science and scientific inquiry.
