The Learning & Information Technology Services (LITS) department at National Louis University comprises of multiple teams of specialized areas. These teams include the Helpdesk and User Services team, the Learning Experience Design team, the Banner Administration team, and the Technical Services team.

Helpdesk & User Services Team


Have a question? Need an answer? The Help Desk and User Services teams are here when you need us most. Offering 24x7 support to students, faculty, and staff, we provide assistance with software such as Microsoft Office, Banner Self-Service, the NLU Portal and NLU emails/account. In addition to software support, we also provide comprehensive support and care for NLU computer hardware, phones, fax machines, and voicemail systems. The Help Desk is a great resource for fast answers. If your issue requires more attention, the Help Desk staff will route your ticket to a specialist.

Learning Experience Design Team


The Learning Experience Design team helps support faculty with technology needs for their online, blended, and face-to-face classes. Included in these services are assistance with online teaching and learning, the university’s learning management system D2L, course development, and the appropriate use of multimedia and emerging technologies.

Banner Administration Team


Banner is an integrated University information system. All NLU information is maintained in Banner’s single relational database. Banner provides the processes to handle University business from recruiting through admissions, scheduling, registration, grade reporting, transcript maintenance, alumni tracking, financial aid distribution, finance office operations and human resource functions.

Technical Services Team


The technical services team handles the back-end of NLU systems, ensuring that day-to-day operations are efficiently running. The team handles various scopes of work, ranging from LAN & WiFi network services, to server management & maintenance, web design and development, and more.

These teams below fall underneath Technical Services:

The network services team plans, develops, deploys, and supports operations for the university network infrastructure. Network connectivity, e-mail services, DNS (Domain Name Services), Citrix connectivity (for access to Banner), and network security are just a few of the services supported by the network team.

The team also manages the university’s telecommunications systems (standard and IP-based telephony), its internet service providers, and the campus cabling systems. The desktop service's staff provides on-campus and phone support for the faculty, staff, and students who use the university’s computing labs and computers.

The web services team handles day-to-day maintenance of all NLU websites and content. All custom code and web applications fall under the purview of the web team. Additionally, the Terminalfour CMS software is maintained and managed by the web team, and we provide services such as training, account creation, and support for the various departmental websites.
